So, its been a couple of months see we all returned safely from our adventure through Spain, Andorra & France. And what can I say but WOW…what an epic rally it was!
Very soon we will be releasing the official rally video (a special screening to be announced) but in the mean time here’s a short summary for you:
Day 1 – We all made it to the ferry and had a great night on board…maybe a few too many beers for some (me included). Tamarin (from PCUK) & I managed to hijack the the bingo mic and gave an impromptu awareness talk followed by collecting a few hundred pounds.
The rest of the evening was a bit of a blur but at some point most of us retreated to our luxury suites for a nights sleep (once we figured out how to get the second bunk bed out of the ceiling!)
Day 2 – “Am I hung over or is it sea-sickness?” BOTH! After failing to make the morning briefing session (sorry guys) I think the rest of the ferry crossing went like this. 25% of people felt fine…enjoyed breakfast and the howling wind and rain. 50% managed to get out of bed but missed breakfast/lunch and (like me) drifted about the boat moaning and sipping coke/water/larger/a G&T!! The rest…including a former merchant navy man…no names, but he was from this point on know as Uncle Albert…stayed in their luxury shoe box until it was time to leave.
And so we were off…3 hours down the coast to our first overnight on dry land. The journey there was pretty dull, mostly motorway, but it was windy as hell. Thunderbird 2 discovered that although their van lacked any kind of comfort features, it did have Crosswind Assist….Matt & Jamie swear they were up on 2 wheels at one point….I’m not so sure.
The hotel itself was nice, parking was easy, rooms were great, dinner fantastic, dinner service…well I still have nightmares about the head waitress….how scary was she!
Day 3/4/5 to follow shortly.
